Planning your big celebration – top tips
Are you planning a big birthday, anniversary or family celebration? Take the worry out of your next big get-together with a few top tips from the Events team at The Elvetham. With 20 years of experience in delivering high quality events, you’re in safe hands…
Choosing a date
It can be difficult to pick a date for your big celebration, but this is often dictated by the event you are celebrating (birthday or anniversary). Ideally, look to get plans in place in advance and invites out to your guests around 8-12 weeks before the event to make sure the majority can make it!
Choosing a venue
Hosting an event at home can seem like a good idea but can often become stressful. It is important that you (the organiser) are also able to relax and enjoy the celebration too and so selecting a venue away from home is a good way to ensure this. Choosing a venue who regularly host similar events also gives you reassurance that you and your guests will be well looked after!
The Elvetham has a range of private rooms suitable for a variety of events and group sizes including rooms for private dining, discos and drinks receptions. Not only do the multiple event spaces give you the flexibility to choose the best room for your event, but with the added benefit of bedrooms in the Main House, it means your guests can choose to stay the night and simply retire to their comfortable bedroom following an evening full of celebrations!
Choosing your food and drink
After the venue, this is arguably the most important part of any good party. Make sure you think about the type of event you are hosting and choose food accordingly – is it going to be formal or informal, inside or outside?
At The Elvetham, we know how to throw a party and with the help of our Head Chef Darren, delicious food and fine wine are a given at any celebration. From canapés to fork buffets and a four course private dinner to a barbecue we’ve got you covered.
Choosing your entertainment
Dependent on the type of event you are hosting, it is important to consider entertainment. You can either do this yourself with a few simple family games or ‘push the boat out’ and get some professional entertainment. From a DJ to a caricaturist there are so many options to make your next event that bit more memorable. Here at The Elvetham, we collaborate with a whole range of companies to provide entertainment, so get in touch and we’d be happy to help if you are stuck for inspiration.
Don’t forget to take pictures at your event, so get yourself a photographer (or budding attendee) to take some photos from the event so that you can relive the celebrations for years to come.
