A slice of luxury with Unique Cakes by Yevnig
For over 4 years Unique Cakes by Yevnig has been producing bespoke, elegant luxury wedding cakes. We talk to the owner and founder Yevnig Davis about her experience and what trends to look out for in the coming winter months.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love making people happy and expressing my favourite form of art in cakes. It’s become a passion!
I love the fact that my job introduces to me many wonderful couples who are on a most beautiful wedding journey and I get to contribute such an honourable part; providing their cake for that important first ceremonial cut, a precious moment.
I also love the places my work takes me, the sites and the historic buildings I get to see, and the wedding planners I get to meet. Although the hard work behind the scenes is not for everyone… But for me, my work is a truly wonderful way to enjoy great cake, happy couples and some beautiful scenery.

With winter fast approaching, what are the biggest trends you’ve seen in weddings in the colder months?
I am seeing ‘winter wonderland’ weddings becoming popular, embracing the charm the cold season has to offer with the beauty of grey, silver and sparkly snowy whites. Couples are realising the season is to be celebrated and are choosing to be more creative when creating their perfect wedding to make the most of the British winter weather.

Are there any standout memories from your Elvetham weddings?
It wouldn’t be fair to pick a favourite! I can honestly say that all of my commissions at The Elvetham have been stunning!
The venue is a perfect backdrop for my cakes and just imagine the wonderful photos and memories Elvetham couples will enjoy, with such an amazing backdrop! I have also had the pleasure of my cakes being featured in many magazine photoshoots shot at The Elvetham. Some of my favourite images are shot in these stunning grounds…

What’s the best piece of advice you have for couples planning their wedding?
Research, Research, Research! Have a clear idea and vision of what you would like for your own special day and star planning early. The best wedding suppliers tend to become booked well in advance, so try to secure dates as soon as you can.
Also, based upon my experience of having seen many weddings over the last 9 years, my final piece of advice is to consider to hiring an experienced event / wedding planner. There is so much to do and organise for a successful wedding, having a professional to help really can help! And of course, on the big day itself, they will be there to ensure it all runs smoothly, ensuring you have nothing to worry about and only the happiest of memories!
