Real Wedding: Aaron & Keith
The Elvetham hosted the beautiful wedding of Aaron and Keith on the 31st August 2018. They share with us their planning process and the highlights of their special day.
“We knew that we wanted a country house setting and we’d been to a wedding at The Elvetham before. We chose The Elvetham because of the style of the venue. We loved that the ceremony room was small and intimate, and that The Conservatory was so bright – we knew it would look perfect for the wedding breakfast.
The venue has so much history and has a real WOW factor when you drive up and walk in for the first time. We also loved the various rooms we had access to on the day, it was really great to be able to separate the bar from the dance floor, and also to have all of that outdoor space available!
We were pretty calm on the morning. Both of us felt a bit bored whilst everyone around us was having their hair and make-up done – It’s a bit dull being a groom, you don’t get nearly as pampered as a bride or a bridesmaid does! What was lovely was being able to get together with our bridesmaids and have breakfast that The Elvetham provided in a private room for us. It was nice not to have to worry about ‘seeing the bride’ before the wedding and just enjoy breakfast together.
For the wedding theme we chose black and white as we wanted quite a masculine theme to run through the day. We also loved the idea of having our 2 bridesmaids in black – it’s rare to see black dresses at a wedding!
We went with white roses for the bridesmaids’ bouquets and for the main part of the centrepieces. Sarah, our florist was amazing at putting together the arrangements. We were quite vague on what we wanted, and really only said to her that we wanted white (with green foliage, obviously!) and that if possible we would like some black for the top table and ceremony flowers. She ended up spraying some red roses with black dye and they looked amazing!
The Elvetham did the most amazing job of dressing the room for our wedding breakfast. The theme came together perfectly and they made the most of the table decorations we had asked them to put out. They also strung a whole load of pictures of us (and some of our dog who obviously wasn’t at the wedding!) around the room so that it had a personal touch to the both of us. The food was amazing and received lots of compliments on the day!
One of Aaron’s close work friends paid for 2 singing waiters to entertain us and our guests between courses – we knew in advance but we kept it a secret from all the guests. It was the most amazing 30 minutes of entertainment! They had everyone up on their feet and had Aaron and I each lead a conga line out of the conservatory and across the lawn! Certainly not what either of us had imagined doing on our wedding day but a huge amount of fun!
Top Tip: I wish i’d known how much we would enjoy the day – without a doubt the best day of our lives bar none!”
