Birds at The Elvetham

The Elvetham’s grounds and rivers have always been a special place for animals.

A long time ago, one of the big yew trees was turned into a large house for exotic birds.

What birds can you spot around The Elvetham?

In 1920, a pair of Canadian Geese were brought to The Elvetham, and by the 1980s, they had grown into two large groups around the lake.

In the early 1960s, a famous British military leader named Field Marshall Viscount Alanbrooke visited Elvetham and spotted 43 different types of birds in just one day!

Today, you can spot deer roaming around the surrounding fields.
