We are pleased to announce that this June, The Elvetham will host an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, presented by the acclaimed production company, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men.

Set within the historic grounds of The Elvetham, this open-air event offers a rare opportunity to experience live theatre in a setting of exceptional heritage. The estate is reputed to have inspired Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, adding a unique connection to the evening.

Guests will enjoy a memorable night of classic theatre in the landscaped surroundings of our 19th-century country house hotel—an ideal summer experience for those seeking culture in a refined rural setting.

Production Time: 7pm - 9pm (Doors Open 6pm)

The Elvetham is a fully licenced venue. A selection of delicious street food as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase onsite. Please note that outside alcohol is prohibited at this venue.

 

What to bring

Please be aware that chairs will not be provided by The Elvetham, please make sure to bring your own low backed seating for the performance. Guests are advised to consider bringing sun hats, sun cream, sunglasses, jumpers, raincoats and rain hats depending on the weather conditions for performance.

 

Food & drink

The Elvetham is a fully licenced venue. A selection of delicious street food as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase onsite. Please note that outside alcohol is prohibited at this venue.

Weather

The performance will continue in all but the very worst weather! On very rare occasions, it will not be possible to complete the performance, but The Lord Chamberlain's Men will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time.

Should the performance start and then be called off by the weather, no refund can be issued however if the weather is so bad that the performance cannot even begin, a full refund will be issued.

Other information

The performance will be approximately 2 hours long including an interval.

The Elvetham is a dog friendly location and welcomes well behaved dogs to enjoy the show.
