He was one of the most well-known kings in history and had six wives! When King Henry came to The Elvetham, he was with his second wife, Queen Anne Boleyn.

During their visit, they met a lady named Jane Seymour, who was part of a noble family living here. Not long after, history took a big turn—Queen Anne Boleyn was no longer queen, and just one day later, King Henry became engaged to Jane Seymour!

King Henry and Queen Jane visited The Elvetham many times, including once in secret before their marriage - it was so scandalous that the local nuns were thrown out of their home for gossiping!
